Kongsberg Discovery Canada is seeking a collaborative and visionary General Manager & Country Manager to lead our dynamic organization.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As General Manager & Country Manager for KD Canada, you will oversee all business and operations in Canada, working closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of marine technology and contribute to sustainable solutions for our oceans.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and inspire a talented, multidisciplinary team across engineering, factory, finance, quality, supply chain, and sales & marketing.
  • Develop and execute strategies for growth and innovation, in close partnership with the Marine Life Technology (MLT) division and other Kongsberg Discovery teams.
  • Ensure strong business performance, with responsibility for profit & loss and key performance indicators.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement—where every voice is valued and everyone can thrive.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Represent Kongsberg Discovery’s values and commitment to diversity, equity, and belonging in all aspects of your leadership.
  • Participate as a key member of the MLT divisional management team, contributing to strategic decisions and organizational development.
  • Some international travel is expected.

ADDITIONAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountability for Compliance: Ensure the subsidiary’s full compliance with all required laws and regulations (“license to operate”), and regularly report on the status of compliance, security, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) matters.
  • Financial, Legal, and Tax Compliance: Oversee financial reporting, and ensure legal and tax compliance for the Canadian legal entity.
  • Profit & Loss Responsibility: Hold profit and loss responsibility within the boundaries and conditions of the defined business model and related transfer pricing regulations.
  • Forecasting: Contribute to the forecasting process to complete global figures for business units and divisions.
  • Operational & Market Optimization: Optimize the subsidiary’s operations and market position in line with the strategic directions and goals set by the divisions and functions.
  • Cross-Divisional Coordination: Ensure effective coordination across divisions within the local operation.
  • Local Management Team Leadership: Lead the local management team, ensuring representation from all divisions and functions with local activity.
  • Local Representation: Act as Kongsberg Discovery’s local “ambassador” in Canada, representing the company to local government, institutions, key customers, and the public.
  • Site & Personnel Responsibility: Hold formal site and personnel responsibility for the subsidiary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • You have 10+ years’ experience in leadership roles, including profit & loss responsibility.
  • You bring experience in change management and enjoy leading teams through transformation and growth.
  • You have managed across the full value chain—from engineering to delivery—and thrive in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • You are highly collaborative, people-focused, and committed to building inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • You lead with empathy, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose, motivating others to achieve shared goals.
  • You are decisive, results-oriented, and able to see the big picture while driving operational excellence.
  • You are passionate about innovation, sustainability, and making a difference in the world.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • A master’s degree in a technical or financial field is preferred.
  • Experience with Kongsberg Discovery’s international business principles is a plus.
