Are you sporty, service-minded and enjoy working in an international environment?

KNM Harald Haarfagre / Host Nation Support are looking for you who are engaged and service minded for a position as Welfare and Sports Assistant (consultant 1065). The position is earmarked Joint Warfare Center (JWC) with place of employment at Jåttå, Stavanger. 

The Joint Warefare Centre (JWC) is a NATO organisation which was established in Stavanger, Norway on 23 October 2003. It promotes and conducts NATO's joint and combined training, experimentation, analysis and doctrine development processes to maximise transformational synergy and imporve NATO's capabilities and interoperability. The JWC also assist the Superior Headquarters, Allied Command Transformation (ACT) with development work on new technologies, modelling and simulation.

Principal Duties
  • Assist the Community Services Section Head with event planning and execution, and other administrative tasks as directed.
  • Support with marketing of events via different channels (email, Facebook, webpage etc).
  • Responsible for managing the large contracted sports offers at the JWC, mainly the SATS membership and access to swimming pools.
  • Maintain a database of all active users and ensure they are in line with given directives. Check invoices against database (active memberships).
  • Coordinate with financial offices involved, both at JWC and Host Nation side and with the external providers such as SATS.
  • Assist the Head of Community Services Section with administration and oversight of the JWC sports and recreation clubs. 
  • As directed by Section Head, provide sports activity programs for JWC staff.
  • Support andt take a leading role in organizing JWC sport events. Oversee the JWC Training Facility (GYM) and ensure the equipment is in safe working order.
  • Provide support with national fitness tests or any other sports related matter. Offer general sports related support to JWC staff and families.
  • Assist the Head Community Services Section with administration of international privileges e.g. NSTEP administration, in the absence of other staff in Community Services Section or Host Nation Support or when required.


Essential Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: Sport/event management, Customer service, or administration.
  • Experience in sport/training instruction.
  • Higher secondary education and completed vocational training in sport/event management, business administration, public administration or related dicipline leading to a professional accreditation.
  • Language skills: Professional working proficiency English, Professional working proficiency Norwegian.
  • Candidate must undergo security clearance for level NATO SECRET / NORSK HEMMELIG before being appointed to the position.
